Venue

The Summit will be held at Rutherford House, located in the Pipitea Campus of Victoria University of Wellington. Rutherford House is conveniently located in the city centre, adjacent to the waterfront, Parliament, the Railway Station, shopping areas, cafes and restaurants, and within a 10-15-minute walk of multiple hotels.

Getting there

Getting to Wellington: Before jumping to book flights have you considered carpooling or getting the train, bus or ferry?

Walking: Pedestrian shortcuts to Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington 


Biking: Check out the Wellington cycle paths map here and park safely at the bike stand out front Rutherford house.

 

Public transport: Wellington has a good public transport network of buses and trains with frequent services to and from Pipitea Campus.

 

Buses and trains in Wellington are operated by Metlink. Visit their website for information on timetables and fares, or phone 0800 801 700.

 

The Pipitea campus is located at the Wellington Railway Station—also home to the central bus terminus.

You can pay bus fares in cash, but it is cheaper to buy a Snapper card and load it up with credit. You can buy and top up Snapper cards from: 

  • Freemans Lotto, Rutherford House, Pipitea campus.

  • Convenience stores and other retailers around Wellington—look for the Snapper logo. See other locations here.

Parking

Please note there is no full day parking available at pipitea campus. If you wish to drive you will need to use public parking. 

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the summit ticket. It is the attendees responsibility to arrange accommodation if required.

 

The Zero Waste Network team will be staying at Park Hotel, located on The Terrace.

If you book using this link a discount will be automatically applied to your booking. The discount period is from 17th - 21st November to give you flexibility with your travel.

Catering

All catering will be vegetarian, with vegan and gluten-free options available. We will work closely with our caterers to accommodate unique dietary requirements specified during the registration process. If we are unable to meet any specific needs, we will notify you in advance.

Luggage storage for site tours

If you require your luggage to be stored while attending a tour here are the options:

 

Walking tour: Store your luggage at Sustainability Trust (starting point of the tour). After the tour, return to collect your luggage.

 

Biking tour: Store your luggage at Sustainability Trust (starting point of the tour). After the tour, return to collect your luggage or if you are hoping to make your way straight to the airport your luggage can be transported to Parrotdog (end point of tour).

 

Community recycling centre tour: We will be hiring a luggage trailer so your luggage can come along for the ride.
