Tour Day

Zero Waste Sites

Take the talking into walking with your new network buddies on site tour day. We will be visiting the plethora of zero waste initiatives in the Wellington region. 

 

All tours will begin their day collectively with a cuppa and a tour of Sustainability Trust and the new Te Aro Zero Waste, Aotearoa’s most urban resource recovery centre.

 

Please note: We have limited spaces for each tour so get in quick to secure your spot. ​

8:30 - 11:30

Tour option 1
Walking CDB tour

  • Free option - please RSVP when purchasing your summit pass

  • Starting point Sustainability Trust & Te Aro Zero Waste

  • Carrying on to visit another 3 zero waste initiatives in the CBD area:

  • Morning tea is included

  • Luggage can be stored at Sustainability Trust while you are on the tour

8:30 - 1:30

Tour option 2
Walking & biking tour

  • Paid option - please add when purchasing your summit pass

  • Including everything from the walking tour

  • Then jumping on Switched On ebikes and heading to:

    • Fillgood HQ at Sky Stadium - reusable serviceware solutions for events across Wellington

    • Cairns Street Hub, zero waste & social enterprise hub hosting:

      • Kaicycle's HotRot in-vessel composting system

      • Nonstop Solutions' HQ - zero waste events specialists and consultants 

      • Yum Jar's (zero waste meal boxes) - commercial kitchen, and organic waste management.

  • Finishing point Parrotdog in Lyall Bay for lunch (Lunch is NOT include in the ticket price)

Important things to note:

  • Morning tea is included

  • Biking route is 90% off road on cycle paths

  • Rental ebikes are provided as part of this tour option (If you would prefer to BYO bike please email isy@zerowaste.co.nz to confirm your spot instead of booking)

  • Bike crew is capped at 20 for safety

  • Luggage can be stored at Sustainability Trust and transported to you at Parrotdog if you’d like to head straight to the airport. We can return the rental bikes to the CBD for you.

8:30 - 3:00

Tour option 3
Community recycling centre tour

  • Paid option - please add when purchasing your summit pass

  • Starting point Sustainability Trust & Te Aro Zero Waste

  • Jumping in the vans and visiting:

  • Tour finishing in the CBD at 3pm

  • Morning tea & lunch is included

  • Luggage can come along for the ride in the luggage trailer
